Privacy
Steam Redesigned (Project Vanguard) is an unofficial fan app for Windows, Android and the web. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. This page covers every version. Last updated October 15, 2026.
What stays on your device
- Your wishlist, owned and hidden games, price alerts, settings, background photo and AI chat history are kept on your device only. Nobody else receives them.
- If you connect an AI, its API key stays on your device. The Windows app encrypts it with Windows' own data protection; the Android app and the website keep it in the app's or browser's local storage.
- Clearing the app's data, uninstalling it or clearing the site's data in your browser removes all of this.
What is sent, and to whom
- Steam and SteamSpy: the app reads public store, player-count, review and community data. No Steam sign-in is used, and nothing about you is sent.
- CheapShark: to compare a game's price at other stores, the game's Steam ID is sent.
- Your AI provider: only when you use AI search, price advice or the AI chat, your question (and for price advice, the game's public prices) goes to the provider you chose (Google Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter or your own AI server) with your key, under that provider's privacy policy.
- YouTube and Bandcamp: only when you play a soundtrack or a game video, their official players load (YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode).
- The website and the Android app get catalog data from projectvanguard.vercel.app, hosted by Vercel. Like any web server it sees your IP address to answer; the app keeps only short-lived counters in memory to limit abuse.
- A home server (ProjectServer), if you run one, serves phones on your own network and sends nothing elsewhere.
- Update check: the app reads the newest version number from this GitHub page.
Children
The app doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
